Aquileia: the baptistry

From the colonnade of the Basilica you enter the so-called "chiesa dei pagani" or "Pagans' church" (9th century) and then you will see the Baptistry, a large hexagonal basin inside an octagonal perimeter, as required by ancient symbology.

This is a rare architectural example of a direct link between the Basilica, the altar in the central nave and the heart of the baptismal font.
